Fireplace:
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
IMPORTANT! Please do not operate the fireplace if you are unsure how to properly vent, light, maintain or extinguish a fire in a home fireplace.
We will be more than happy to help you get the fireplace going if you need assistance. Just text or call.
IMPORTANT! Before lighting the fire:
- Shine a light up into the chimney and make sure the flu is open. If you don’t the entire house will fill with smoke and the smoke alarms will go off!
- Arrange the starter log and smaller wood pieces first but DO NOT LIGHT YET.
- BEFORE LIGHTING: Use a piece of lit paper to prime the chimney. Do this by lighting some paper on fire and holding it up the chimney for 15-20 seconds. This creates an updraft, which will ensure that smoke exits up the chimney and not into the living space.
- Please note that as with most real wood fireplaces, you, your clothing and your hair may smell a little like wood-smoke, which is hard to get rid of!
- Always place the screen in front of the fireplace while it is lit. It is ok to leave unattended as long as the screen is in place.
- Try to keep the fire on the smaller side (less wood) so it is easier to maintain.
Flushable items (toilet):
YES: Toilet paper
YES: Human waste
NO: Everything else
Checkout:
- Please place all garbage and recyclables in the garbage bin in the driveway in the front of the house (garbage is blue bin with black lid, recyclables has orange lid).
- Please wash any dishes and place on drying rack as best as you can.
- Please place the key in the lockbox after your stay.
